Subject: Jake's Surgery
Jake's surgery went very well this morning and we are so grateful that
God has protected Jake from what could have been a lot worse. Doctor
LaKnew told us after words that his left lung was in worse shape than
his right lung which is really hard to believe. It appears only by the
grace of God Jake's left lung blems were pressed against his chest
cavity so tightly that they didn't have a chance to fully expand which
saved them from popping his left lung.
Dr LaKnew said as he moved his left lung slightly away from his back the
blems blew up to the size of ping pong balls and when you look at the
photos you can see how thin the outer walls of the blems were and how
blessed we were that they didn't pop.
Jake is in a tremendous amount of pain right now or was because right
now he is asleep. He is on a IV that is feeding him 4 milligrams an
hour of morphine and has a morphine pump that allows him to add another
2 mailgrams of morphine every 15 minutes. When they moved him from
recovery back to the room, as they slide him across from one bed to
another he was in so much pain that he couldn't get enough morphine in
his body before he passed out from the pain. The nurses did there best
to get him another 2 milligrams in his IV but didn't get it in before he
passed out from the pain.
We expect this recovery to be a little tougher and a lot more painful
than the past 2 simple because he hasn't had the time to fully heal from
his last surgery, his left chest tube is coming out of his back and the
fact they pulled his right chest tube out right after they had finished
putting in his left chest tube.
As a dad and a parent, to watch your child suffer like we have with Jake
scars you and leaves lasting imprints in your mind and heart and you
pray you'll never have to witness it ever again. For those of you who
have been blessed never to know that or see it, you should be on your
knees thanking the Lord every night because you take if for granted like
we did. Tammy and I may never have to see it again, which is fine with
us, but you will never forget it or be the same.
We again can not tell you how grateful we are to for your prayers and
concerns during this difficult time. Please continue to pray for Jake
when you find a quite moment, that he will heal quickly, fully and Lord
willing not a lot of pain and suffering and for Tammy too that she
continues to be strong and not crumble under the stress.
We feel so blessed for all that God has done for us over the past
couple of weeks,it has truly been by the amazing grace and love that
Jake is still alive and that God didn't allow Jake to suffer more than
he has. While we were concerned about the right lung God held the left
lung together and allowed us the time to fix the right, when we never
know how close we were to losing the left. It is these moments for can
find a
Thanks again for all your prayers they have encourage and strength us in
our time of need.
