[Troop1020] Completion of Troop 1020 Court of Honor and Moving Forward

Dear Troop 1020, 
Thanks to all the Scouts and parents for participating in the Court of Honor l(COH) ast night.  What a turnout of Scouts, family and friends!!!  We had over 175 merit badges, rank advancements, special awards, certificates and adult training recognitions last night.  Thank you for your patience, as the COH after the summer months is always lengthy.  Special thanks to Linda Fisher for organizing our food, all the parents who brought food and all the help to cleanup.  Now we're looking forward to the next COH on November 17th.  

We'll resume our schedule of Scout Master Conferences (SMC) and Board of Reviews (BOR) on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month.  This will include Aug. 25, Sept. 8, Sept. 22, Oct 13 and Oct. 27.  (Once we get closer to the next COH, we'll increase the frequency up until a deadline date which will be established as we get a little closer.)  Please look on the bulletin board in the Pedro room to sign up for either a Scout Master Conference or a Board of Review.  Remember there is preparation for a Scout Master Conference:  

1)  Ensure all your requirements are signed off in your handbook for the rank you are desiring to complete. 
2)  Bring me your handbook so I can transfer your signoffs into the TroopMaster database.  
3)  Place your name on the signup sheet for a 2nd or 4th Monday of the month to schedule a SMC.  (Yes, you'll also need to sign up for a BOR.  Please do so on a night different than your SMC.)
4)  Complete SMC paperwork for your rank - on the Troop 1020 website www.troop1020.org/  under Documents or ask me for a copy during the Monday meeting.  
5)  Ask Mrs. Garza to sign off that you are current on your dues.  (She will make a note directly on your completed SMC paperwork.)
6)  Wear your full Class A and bring your Scout Handbook on the night of your SMC (and BOR).  
7)  Be prepared to stay after the meeting for your SMC or BOR to take place.  The Senior Staff and Patrol Leaders have planned very exciting meetings and therefore we'll  continue to conduct SMC and BOR after the meeting has completed.  

As you can tell, the above process takes a little planning.  It's a good idea to set your goal for the next Court of Honor (or the one after) and start planning now.  Please let me know if you have additional questions or need help.  I hope all the Scouts and teachers have a great school year.  Remember how important your school work is.  Keeping up with your assignments from the very beginning will make it much easier when it comes to quiz and test time.  Make a commitment now to do your best!
